2221. Centre sanctions projects worth Rs 620 crore for rural roads in northeast, hill states
- On 5 April 2025 The Ministry of Rural Development has sanctioned projects worth Rs 620.63 crore to construct rural roads in the northeastern region, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Odisha to boost economic development in remote areas.
- The investment of Rs 474.71 crore will be made under the PMGSY-III scheme for rural roads in Manipur, Mizoram, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand States under PMGSY-III.
- The initiative aims to improve access to essential services like healthcare, education, and markets. It will also enhance connectivity in rural areas, bridging the gap between remote villages and urban centres and foster economic development, trade, and commerce in the region
2222. Haryana collects ₹39,153 crore as SGST in FY24-25, exceeds budget target
- On 5 April 2025 The excise and taxation department collected ₹39,153 crore as state goods and services tax (SGST) in 2024-25, exceeding the target for the fiscal year by ₹1,655 crore
- Haryana delivered exceptional performance in GST collections, surpassing its GST revenue targets for FY25 as well as the national growth averages.
- Haryana’s total gross GST collection for March 2025 stands at ₹10,648 crore, reflecting a 12% increase year-on-year. The national average growth rate for March 2025 is 8.79 %, placing Haryana at the sixth highest spot in growth percentage among major states

2223. Defence Minister inaugurated Indian Ocean Ship Sagar initiative at Karwar Naval Base
- On 5 April 2025 Defence Minister inaugurated the newly developed infrastructure at the Karwar Naval Base in Karnataka which will enhance India's maritime security.
- "SAGAR' stands for Security And Growth for All in the Region. It is an initiative by the Government of India for mutual cooperation and security and safety of mariners in the Indian Ocean region."
- The launched of IOS SAGAR initiative, INS Sunayna's Commanding Officer, Kamal Singh highlighted the significance of the project and explained that SAGAR is an initiative by the Government of India aimed at enhancing mutual cooperation and ensuring the safety and security of mariners in the Indian Ocean region.
2224. Isro’s POEM-4, from SpaDeX mission, re-enters Earth’s atmosphere
- On 4 April 2025 The Indian Space Research Organisation (Isro) late Friday confirmed that the PSLV Orbital Experimental Module (POEM-4) successfully re-entered Earth’s atmosphere and impacted the Indian Ocean.
- The controlled re-entry marks another achievement in Isro’s ongoing commitment to mitigate space debris and promote sustainable space operations. “The successful re-entry reaffirms Isro’s prominent role in maintaining the long-term sustainability of the outer space environment and furthers the objectives of the Debris Free Space Mission (DFSM)
- POEM-4, the specially configured upper stage of the PSLV-C60 rocket, was launched on Dec 30, 2024, as part of the Space Docking Experiment (SpaDeX) mission. After deploying the satellites at an altitude of 475km, POEM-4 remained in a similar orbit.
- Isro engineers subsequently performed engine restarts to de-orbit the module to a nearly circular orbit at 350km with a 55.2° inclination. Following this manoeuvre, the PS4 stage was passivated by venting remaining fuel to minimise risks of accidental break-up.

2225. Jammu Kashmir Advances Digital Education with 3,427 Smart Classrooms
- On April 4, 2025, it was reported that Jammu and Kashmir has rolled out 1,700 smart classrooms across government schools in the latest phase of its educational modernization push. This brings the total number of smart classrooms in the region to 3,427.
- Objective & Framework: Implemented under the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) scheme, which promotes digital learning through smart devices, e-content, and teacher training. The initiative seeks to enhance student engagement and improve learning outcomes via technology-integrated education.

2226. NHAI signs Rs 5,729 crore deal for Guwahati Ring Road project on BOT (Toll) Model
- On April 3, 2025, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) signed a concession agreement with Infracon Pvt. Ltd. to develop the Guwahati Ring Road Project on a Build-Operate-Toll (BOT) model with zero grant, at an estimated cost of Rs 5,729 crore.
- Project Highlights: Total Length: 121 km Concession Period: 30 years (including 4 years for construction) State Contribution (Assam Govt): 50% of land cost Exemptions on royalty for aggregates and state GST Approx. contribution: Rs 1,270 crore Gross Project Cost: Around Rs 7,000 crore

2227. CM Mohan Majhi launches 14 industrial projects worth Rs 5,770 crore
- On 3April,2025, Chief Minister inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for 14 industrial projects with a cumulative investment of Rs 5,770 crore, promising to generate over 37,030 employment opportunities.
- The projects span over sectors like food processing, textile, apparel and technical textile, mechanical and electrical capital goods, packaging and refractory.
- The chief minister also assured all possible support to the investors for timely grounding of their projects while ensuring that the benefits of industrialisation reach every corner of the state.

2228. Kaziranga sets new tourism record with 406,564 visitors
- On 4 April 2025 Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve (KNPTR) in Assam has achieved a historic milestone by welcoming an unprecedented 406,564 tourists, including 17,693 international visitors, during the fiscal year 2024-25.
- The emarkable surge reflects a fourfold increase over the past decade, underscoring the park's growing appeal as a premier global wildlife destination.

2229. Cabinet approves four multitracking projects to enhance Indian Railways capacity
- On 4 April,2025, The Union Cabinet approved four major multitracking projects for Indian Railways, aiming to significantly enhance line capacity and improve both passenger and freight transportation across key routes.
- The project ammount With an estimated total cost of Rs. 18,658 crore, these projects will be completed by 2030-31 and are expected to streamline logistics, reduce costs, and support sustainable rail operations.
- Spanning 1,247 kilometers across 15 districts in Maharashtra, Odisha, and Chhattisgarh, the four approved projects are crucial for increasing the efficiency of transportation for essential commodities like coal, iron ore, and other minerals.
2230. Indian Navy Signs Rs 2.7 billion Diesel Engine Deal
- On 4 April 2025 The Indian Navy has signed a Project Sanction Order with Kirloskar Oil Engines Limited for the design and development of a 6MW Medium Speed Marine Diesel Engine under the Make-I category.
- With over 51 per cent indigenous content, the prototype engine will receive 71 per cent funding from the Government of India. The project also includes designing engines in the 3-10MW range for main propulsion and power generation in Indian Navy and Indian Coast Guard ships.
- The agreement, valued at Rs 2.7 billion, was signed in New Delhi in the presence of Defence Production Secretary Sanjeev Kumar and Vice Chief of the Naval Staff Vice Admiral Krishna Swaminathan.
- This initiative will reduce dependency, save foreign exchange, and boost indigenous defence manufacturing. It is aligned with the government’s Aatmanirbharta vision, strengthening India's defence industrial ecosystem and technology self-reliance.
