731. Rajasthan Tops in Reducing Maternal Deaths with 28 point reduction
- Efforts in preventing deaths of women while pregnant or within 42 days of termination of pregnancy, have borne fruit. In Centre's two successive reports on maternal mortality ratio (MMR), Rajasthan has reported highest decline of 28 points in MMR in the country.
- The MMR in the state, which was 141 maternal deaths per 1 lakh live births in 2017-19, has reduced to 113 deaths per 1 lakh live births in 2018-20.
- A special bulletin on maternal mortality in India, 2019-20, released by ministry of home affairs on November 28, shows that MMR in Rajasthan has reduced to 113 deaths per 1 lakh live births, however, the state has a long way to go as it has to bring the MMR to 70 or below by 2030, which is the target.

732. UP's 'Har Ghar Nal Se Jal' Scheme Declined Encephalitis deaths to Zero
- In a significant milestone, Uttar Pradesh recorded zero encephalitis deaths in 2024, while reported cases have also witnessed a substantial decline.
- This achievement is particularly important considering that in 2005, the state faced an epidemic of Japanese Encephalitis (JE) and Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES), with over 6,000 children affected and more than 1,400 deaths. Gorakhpur, the epicentre of the outbreak, was under scrutiny.
- Citing data from the Jal Jeevan Mission assessment reports, officials stated that 85-92% of households in the affected districts now have tap water connections. "This achievement is credited with reducing water-borne infections and boosting public health resilience. The initiative not only ensures hydration but also fortifies the immune system, which is crucial in combating mosquito-borne diseases like JE.
- A sharp decline in cases was also recorded, with AES cases dropping from 1,472 in 2018 to 116 in 2024, and the number of JE cases falling from 174 to just 5 over the same period.

733. India & Germany Strengthen Collaboration In Traditional & Integrative Medicine
- On November 21, 2025 It was reported that , From 18–20 November 2025 in Berlin, India and Germany held the 3rd Joint Working Group Meeting on Alternative Medicine to advance cooperation in traditional and integrative healthcare, focusing on system integration and regulatory alignment.
- Led by India’s Ministry of Ayush and Germany’s Federal Ministry of Health, discussions addressed integrating traditional medicine into public health delivery, exploring reimbursement mechanisms, and strengthening evidence-based regulatory frameworks through scientific collaboration and institutional engagements.
- The Indian delegation engaged with German institutions, including the proposed MoU with Community Hospital Havelhöhe to advance integrative care cooperation. Ayush said the partnership will enhance research, regulatory harmonisation, and global access to scientifically validated traditional medicine.

734. India, Israel Ink Terms Of Reference To Formally Launch FTA Talks
- On November, 20 2025, in Israel, India and Israel signed Terms of Reference (ToR) to formally launch negotiations for a Free Trade Agreement, aiming to expand market access, reduce trade barriers, and strengthen bilateral economic cooperation.
- The ToR was signed by Commerce Minister and Israeli Economy Minister Nir Barkat. The agreement covers tariff elimination, investment facilitation, customs simplification, technology transfer, services trade, and mobility of skilled professionals, while excluding sensitive sectors for both sides.
- Bilateral trade stood at USD 3.62 billion in 2024–25. Israel expects a tenfold boost from the FTA, while India targets USD 30–40 billion trade in five years. Israel also opened participation for its USD 50-billion metro project to Indian firms.

735. IIT Guwahati Develops Microbial Technology For Efficient Lead Removal From Water
- On November 21, 2025 It was reported that, Researchers at IIT Guwahati have developed an eco-friendly bioremediation method using cyanobacteria to remove lead from contaminated water, with findings published in the Journal of Hazardous Materials and demonstrating high efficiency in laboratory conditions.
- Led by Prof. Debasish Das, the team used components of Phormidium corium NRMC-50, finding its exopolysaccharides achieved 92.5% lead removal. The low-energy technique reduces treatment costs by 40–60% and requires minimal infrastructure.
- The method can also absorb pesticides, dyes, and industrial chemicals, with recovered metals usable for biochar or bioplastics. IIT Guwahati is now scaling the technology to pilot-stage wastewater trials, noting it remains experimental and requires further validation.
736. DRDO, DGA of France ink pact to develop solutions for defence challenges
- On November 20, 2025, in New Delhi, DRDO and France’s Directorate General of Armaments (DGA) signed a technical agreement at DRDO Bhawan to strengthen bilateral collaboration in defence research, innovation, and capability development.
- DRDO Chairman Dr. Samir V. Kamat and French National Armaments Director Lt Gen Gael Diaz de Tuesta inked the pact, establishing frameworks for joint research, training, testing, technology transfer, information exchange, and organisation of workshops and seminars.
- Cooperation will cover aeronautics, unmanned systems, advanced materials, AI, cyber security, space, sensors, propulsion, quantum and underwater technologies. Both sides said the partnership will aid national security and advance global defence technology capabilities.
737. India Records Highest-Ever Defence Production Of ₹1.54 Lakh Crore In 2024-25
- India recorded its highest-ever defence production of ₹1.54 lakh crore in 2024–25, with defence exports reaching a record ₹23,622 crore—up from less than ₹1,000 crore in 2014, according to the Defence Ministry Reported on 20 November, 2025
- The Defence Ministry said this growth was driven by a decade of strong government support, including major budget allocations, policy reforms, and strengthening of India’s military-industrial base to boost domestic manufacturing and export capacity.
- India’s defence budget rose from ₹2.53 lakh crore in 2013–14 to ₹6.81 lakh crore in 2025–26. The government aims for ₹3 lakh crore in defence manufacturing and ₹50,000 crore in defence exports by 2029.
738. Meghalaya CM Conrad Sangma Inaugurates Sohra CHC Operation Theatre, Launches Market Phase-II
- On 19 November 2025 in Sohra, Meghalaya, Chief Minister inaugurated the new Operation Theatre at Sohra CHC and laid the foundation stone for Sohra Market Phase-II, marking major boosts to healthcare and local infrastructure.
- Joined by Health Minister, MLAs, officials, and community groups, the CM highlighted maternal-health reforms, transport support, outcome-based budgeting, and progress under safe motherhood initiatives that have significantly reduced Meghalaya’s maternal mortality rate since 2018.

739. Finance Ministry approved ₹8,300 crore for coastal highway project in Odisha: Minister
- On November 19 ,2025, Odisha Works Minister announced that the Union Finance Ministry has approved ₹8,300 crore for the Rameshwar–Paradip coastal highway, with 60–70% land acquisition completed and final CCEA approval pending before tenders are issued.
- The 346-km coastal highway will connect Digha to Rameshwar, with the first 160 km to Paradip approved. It will be four lanes from Rameshwar to Konark and two lanes from Konark to Paradip, developed by NHAI after CCEA clearance.
- Minister blamed delays on multiple alignment changes under the previous BJD government, while BJD spokesperson Lenin Mohanty criticised lane reductions, warning of long-term environmental and economic costs and vowing to push for the project’s full four-lane capacity.

740. Indian Railways commissions 118 Gati Shakti Cargo Terminals across 18 states
- On November 20, 2025 it was reported that, As of October 31, 2025, Indian Railways has commissioned 118 Gati Shakti Multimodal Cargo Terminals across 18 states and UTs, surpassing its FY25 target of 100 terminals under the Gati Shakti Cargo Terminal Policy.
- The Ministry of Railways, partnering with state governments and private operators, developed these terminals as cargo consolidation hubs, expanding rail freight access in previously unconnected regions and improving multimodal logistics efficiency nationwide.
- Launched under the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan (2021), the terminal network reduces logistics costs and supports industrial clusters. Railway Minister earlier reported 112 terminals commissioned by August 2025, indicating rapid programme traction.
