601. Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal inaugurates Ayurvedic Hospital in Assam's Majuli
- On October 8, 2023, the Union Minister inaugurated a 50-bed Ayurvedic Hospital at Sriram Chapori in Majuli, Assam, offering specialised OPD services, therapy units, and comprehensive Ayurvedic healthcare facilities for the region.
- The Union Minister announced the development while highlighting Majuli’s potential as an Ayush hub. Expanded facilities, specialty clinics, and integrated traditional treatments were introduced to strengthen holistic healthcare delivery in the area.
- Six new Ayush hospitals are planned: four 50-bed units, one 30-bed unit, and one 10-bed unit. Additionally, 289 Ayush Wellness Centres are operational, with 200 more coming soon and 100 new dispensaries to be set up across Assam.

602. Nagaland CM Rio inaugurates new Putuonuo Hospital complex in Kohima
- On July 6, 2024 , the Chief Minister inaugurated the new Putuonuo Hospital complex at Daklane, Kohima, during the hospital’s 34th anniversary celebration, marking a major milestone for the private healthcare institution.
- The Chief Minister highlighted the founders’ vision, staff dedication, and community support, acknowledging how the family-run hospital evolved from a 1990 nursing home to a modern facility committed to patient-centered care.
- Founded on July 6, 1990, the hospital was named in memory of the founder’s mother. The anniversary event featured speeches, a monolith unveiling, and reflections on the hospital’s growth, legacy, and future healthcare potential.

603. Kashmir – People celebrate as their village gets electricity first time since 1947
- On June 28, 2019, Marhama Dadoo village in Anantnag district received electricity for the first time since 1947, ending decades of darkness and marking a major development milestone for the remote community.
- The State-run Power Development Department electrified the village under centrally sponsored schemes, installing nearly 250 utility poles, transformers, and tailored transmission structures to ensure safe and reliable power delivery.
- Three mohallas benefitted from the project, with residents—especially women—celebrating the long-awaited electrification. Locals expressed gratitude to the department for bringing light and improving living conditions after decades without electricity.
604. Electricity reaches to Saddal Village of J-K for the first time
- On April 6, 2022, Saddal village in Panchari tehsil, Udhampur, received electricity for the first time in 75 years under the Untied Grants Scheme, ending a long era of dependence on candles and oil lamps.
- The Power Development Department electrified the village by installing a 25 KVA transformer, following directions from the central government and district administration, providing reliable power to nearly 25 households.
- The project cost ₹10.28 lakh and marked a historic achievement for the district’s power sector. Students celebrated improved study conditions, and elderly residents called it a long-awaited transformation for their community.
605. After 75 Years, Kashmir Village Gets Electricity
- On January 9, 2023 Residents of Tethan village in Dooru block, Anantnag, received electricity for the first time in 75 years under a centrally sponsored development scheme, bringing power to this remote tribal settlement of about 200 people.
- The district administration and Power Development Department completed fast-track electrification by installing a 63-KV transformer, HT line tapping, and full networking efforts initiated in 2022 to deliver electricity to the hilltop village.
- A 63-KV transformer, 38 HT lines, and 57 LT poles—total 95 poles—now supply electricity to 60 houses. Residents celebrated the historic moment, marking the end of decades of reliance on wood and lamps.
606. PM Modi virtually flags off second Vande Bharat train in Jammu and Kashmir's Katra
- On December 30, 2023, the Prime Minister virtually flagged off the second Vande Bharat train between Katra and New Delhi, further enhancing Jammu & Kashmir’s rail connectivity and marking a major milestone for the region.
- The Prime Minister conducted the virtual launch, while officials announced that the under-construction 111-km Katra–Banihal USBRL section will be completed within four months, enabling a full Kashmir-to-Kanyakumari railway link.
- Upgrades worth ₹6,003 crore for major stations, rising Vaishno Devi pilgrim footfall, introduction of Vistadome coaches, and surveys for new railway lines indicate rapid infrastructure expansion and improved travel facilities across Jammu & Kashmir.
607. Electricity reaches two remote villages in J&K along LoC after 75 years of independence
- On January 03, 2024, Kundiyan and Patroo villages in the Keran sector of Kupwara district were electrified for the first time in 75 years through two newly installed 250-KV substations under the Samridh Seema Yojna.
- The Divisional Commissioner of Kashmir inaugurated the substations, while KPDCL completed the electrification project in just two months, providing long-awaited grid connectivity to these previously isolated LoC villages.
- Two 250-KV substations brought power to the villages, ending a 75-year wait. Residents celebrated the illumination of their homes, expressing gratitude for improved infrastructure and the successful execution of the project.
608. ‘Taller than Eiffel tower’: All you need to know about world’s highest railway bridge in J&K
- On February 20, 2024, the Prime Minister inaugurated the world’s highest single-arch Chenab bridge between Bakkal and Kauri in Reasi district, completing a crucial Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Railway Link segment after decades of construction.
- The Prime Minister opened the bridge after it passed tests for high winds, extreme temperatures, earthquakes, and hydrological impacts. Engineers built the arch over three years using massive cable cranes on both riverbanks.
- The bridge stands 1,178 feet high—35 metres taller than the Eiffel Tower—costing ₹14,000 crore within the ₹35,000-crore USBRL project. It withstands 260 km/h winds, has a 120-year lifespan, and will support tourism, defence movement, and future Vande Bharat Metro operations.
609. AIIMS Jammu inaugurated
- On February 20, 2024, the Prime Minister inaugurated AIIMS Jammu, a 226.84-acre medical institute located along NH-44 in Vijaypur, Samba district, providing specialised healthcare and reducing the need for patients to travel to Delhi.
- The Prime Minister opened the institute and highlighted how new AIIMS, medical colleges, expanded MBBS and PG seats, and upcoming nursing colleges aim to strengthen Jammu & Kashmir’s healthcare capacity and improve regional medical access.
- AIIMS Jammu was built under PMSSY; medical colleges increased from 4 to 12, MBBS seats from 500 to 1300, and PG seats from 0 to 650. Thirty-five nursing and paramedic colleges are also being established to boost healthcare training.
610. PM Modi inaugurates 200-acre IIM-Jammu campus
- On February 20, 2024, a ₹500-crore, 200-acre permanent campus of IIM Jammu was inaugurated at Jagti, 14 km from Jammu City, marking a significant expansion of management education infrastructure in the Union Territory.
- The Prime Minister inaugurated the campus, highlighting how the new institute brings quality higher education closer to Jammu and Kashmir’s youth, reducing the need to study outside and supporting regional academic empowerment.
- Established in 2016 with an off-campus opened in 2020, IIM Jammu now advances value-based education, research, consultancy, and global linkages, aiming for world-class academic excellence and inclusive institutional growth.
