1761. During PM Modi’s Visit, India & Croatia Sign Key Agreements On Agriculture, Culture & Technology
- On 18 June 2025, Prime Minister of India paid a historic first official visit to Croatia, meeting Croatian PM Andrej Plenković to strengthen bilateral ties and the India-EU partnership.
- The visit led to the signing of four key agreements, including cooperation in agriculture, science and technology, culture, and the establishment of a Hindi Chair at the University of Zagreb.
- The visit reaffirmed shared democratic values and proposed enhanced mobility for skilled professionals and startups through the India–Croatia Start-up Bridge and a planned workforce mobility MoU.

1762. IIT Guwahati develops low-cost water treatment system to remove fluoride, iron
- On 20 June 2025, It was Reported that, Researchers at IIT Guwahati have developed a low-cost, energy-efficient community-scale water treatment system that removes up to 94% iron and 89% fluoride from groundwater, treating 20,000 litres per day.
- The four-step process includes aeration, electrocoagulation using aluminium electrodes, flocculation-settling, and filtration through coal, sand, and gravel. The system, tested over 12 weeks in real-world conditions, costs just ₹20 per 1,000 litres, requires minimal supervision, and has a 15-year lifespan with biannual electrode replacement.
- A pilot unit is already operational in Changsari, Assam. Published in the ACS ES&T Water journal, the study—led by Prof. Mihir K. Purkait and his team—also explores future upgrades like solar/wind power use, hydrogen reuse, and smart automation for remote areas.
1763. PM Modi Flags Off Patna-Gorakhpur Vande Bharat Train: Know Route, Timings And Fare
- On June 20, 2025, Prime Minister flagged off the Vande Bharat Express Train between Patliputra and Gorakhpur via Muzaffarpur and Bettiah during his visit to Siwan Bihar.
- Gorakhpur Patliputra Vande Bharat Express will start its operations completely from June 22, 2025, It will run six days a week, except Saturdays.
- Vande Bharat Express will pass through Kaptanganj, Bagaha, Bettiah, Motihari, Muzaffarpur and Hajipur. Fares range from ₹380 to ₹925 for Chair Car and ₹715 to ₹1,820 for Executive Class based on distance.
1764. Rs 7,283 Crore Gorakhpur Link Expressway Inaugurated By CM Yogi, To Connect Four UP Districts
- Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister inaugurated the 91.35 km-long Gorakhpur Link Expressway on 20 June, 2025 enhancing connectivity across Eastern Uttar Pradesh.
- The expressway directly serves four districts, Gorakhpur, Sant Kabir Nagar, Ambedkar Nagar, and Azamgarh, by enhancing inter-district road links.
- This corridor is expected to attract investments in agriculture, tourism, commerce, and manufacturing, potentially transforming the region into a thriving economic zone.

1765. PM Modi launches key development projects in Bihar, flags off first export locomotive from Marhowra Plant
- On June 20, 2025, Prime Minister flagged off a modern export locomotive from the Marhowra Plant in Saran, Bihar, built under the Make in India and Make for the World initiative. It marks the plant’s first international dispatch to the Republic of Guinea.
- The advanced ES43ACmi locomotives come with high horsepower engines, AC propulsion, microprocessor based controls, ergonomic cabs and regenerative braking reflecting India’s rising strength in rail manufacturing.
- The Marhowra facility supports multiple rail gauges, aiding global compatibility and export readiness. A total of 150 locomotives will be delivered over three years: 37 in FY 2024-25, 82 in FY 2025-26, and 31 in FY 2026-27.
1766. Bihar CM Nitish Kumar inaugurates Bhupatipur-Punpun elevated road, built by Afcons
- On June 16, Chief Minister inaugurated the Bhupatipur–Punpun (NH-22) stretch under the Mithapur-Mahuli-Punpun project, significantly reducing travel time from 1 hour to just 10 minutes for lakhs of daily commuters.
- The project has been executed by infrastructure major M/s Afcons Infrastructure Ltd and includes the construction of a 5 km elevated four-lane road, 10 km of at-grade four-lane road, and a 1 km ramp.
- The inauguration ceremony was held in the presence of Deputy Chief Ministers , Road Construction Department Minister and several other dignitaries and officials.

1767. French company Safran ties up with HAL to produce LEAP engines' forged parts
- On June 19, 2025, French aerospace company Safran signed an agreement with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited at the Paris Air Show to manufacture forged rotating parts for LEAP aircraft engines in India.
- The deal is a major boost to the Make in India initiative, as it allows HAL to locally produce critical Inconel alloy components used in advanced jet engines.
- The partnership is aimed at supporting India’s growing civil aviation market and also sets the foundation for future collaboration on military jet engines like the M88.

- As PM arrived at his hotel in the Croatian capital, members of the Indian community were present in large numbers, waving flags and chanting patriotic slogans like “Vande Mataram” and “Bharat Mata ki Jai.”
- Adding a unique spiritual dimension to the welcome, a group of Croatian nationals, all dressed in white, joined Prime Minister in chanting the Gayatri Mantra, one of the most revered verses in Hinduism.

1769. Meghalaya invests INR 3,000 crore to boost education, sports and youth development
- On June 19, 2025, Meghalaya Chief Minister emphasised his government’s Rs 3,000 crore investment in education, sports, and entrepreneurship, prioritising youth development through infrastructure upgrades, new colleges, and the state’s first university, Captain Williamson Sangma State University.

1770. Jammu Kashmir: Rs 500 Lakh Approved for 5 Multipurpose Marketing Centres
- On June 18, 2025, the Jammu & Kashmir Apex Committee, chaired by Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, reviewed the Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan (DA-JGUA), approving Rs 877.10 lakh for 2024–26, including Rs 500.00 lakh for five Tribal Multipurpose Marketing Centres (TMMCs) to boost tribal economic activity, per Daily Excelsior.
- Secretary Prasanna G. Ramaswamy announced Rs 377.10 lakh for Forest Rights Act Cells (one UT-level, twenty district-level) to manage FRA claims and Community Forest Resource plans, with funding from the Ministry of Tribal Affairs and DAPST allocations from 17 Union Ministries.
- Dulloo directed Deputy Commissioners to verify gaps in 25 indicators (housing, education, healthcare, market access) for Detailed Project Reports, emphasizing accurate data collection and personal oversight to ensure DA-JGUA benefits reach all tribal settlements.
