1341. Manipur Villages Get Household Tap Water Connections, Easing Daily Struggles
- The Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) is driving a significant transformation in rural Manipur by ensuring the provision of safe and adequate drinking water to households through individual tap connections.
- The Centrally-sponsored scheme which was launched in August 2019, is implemented in partnership with states, where state authorities plan, design, and execute drinking water projects with technical and financial support from the Government of India.

1342. Jal Jeevan Mission Transform Manipur’s Churachandpur with First Time Tap Water Access
- A quiet yet impactful transformation is underway in the rural stretches of Manipur, where the implementation of the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) has successfully brought safe and adequate drinking water directly to village households through individual tap connections.
- Launched in August 2019, the centrally sponsored JJM scheme is implemented in partnership with states, where state authorities plan, design, and execute drinking water projects with technical and financial support from the Government of India.
- K. Thenjang, Maichammun, and Leinom showcase households now equipped with tap water connections. Women and children are seen using tap water in their residential compounds, washing clothes, filling containers, and performing daily chores with ease, a sign of changing times in these once water-deprived villages.
- 430 water supply schemes were sanctioned in the state. Of these, 286 have been fully completed, while 108 schemes are yet to provide functional household tap connections. He expressed hope that these would be completed in the coming month in July.

1343. Arunachal Becomes First Northeast State to Achieve 100% Tap Water Coverage
- Arunachal Pradesh public health engineering & water supply (PHE & WS) minister Mama Natung on 16 July 2025, lauded the department for achieving a landmark milestone by making Arunachal the first state in the northeast to achieve 100% household tap water connection under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM).
- Arunachal recently became the 10th in the country and the first in the northeast to reach 100% saturation under the Centre's flagship programme.
- The feat was made possible through a combined funding of Rs 3,965.41 crore from the Centre and Rs 455.51 crore from the state govt.

1344. Jal Jeevan Mission Brings Piped Water to Every Home in Jammu’s Palli Village
- On the occasion of National Panchayat Raj Day 2022, the residents of Palli village in Samba district have expressed gratitude to Prime Minister, for materializing their dream of piped water through Jal Jeevan Mission.
- Under Jal Jeevan Mission, Palli village of Samba has been fully saturated with 448 FHTCs at a cost of Rs. 143.40 lakh. The Palli village water supply project also included a tube well of 6000 Gallons of discharge capacity per hour.
- Palli village has witnessed massive development after the inception of Jal Jeevan Mission in 2019. Girls can now invest the time, they used to spend in fetching water from distant areas.

1345. Jammu & Kashmir Doubles Tap Water Access Under Jal Jeevan Mission
- Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed substantial progress over the past four years, particularly in providing water connections to both hilly and plain areas. In 2019, approximately 7.82 lakh houses in JK had water connections, a number that has impressively surged to 14 lakh houses, marking a significant achievement in the ambitious Jal Jeevan Mission.
- The Water Supply Scheme (WSS) in Hergawas, serving two villages with a predominantly Scheduled Tribe (ST) population. This project, implemented with a budget of Rs. 47.0 lakhs, stands as a testament to the mission’s commitment to reaching remote areas, benefiting 134 households and 2158 individuals.
- In regions along the Line of Control (LoC), the ‘Jal Jeevan Mission’ has turned dreams into reality by providing drinking water through pipes, significantly improving daily life, especially for women. Villages like Baltan and Nilphan Top Village in Larnoo, Anantnag, have experienced transformative changes, ending a 50-year wait for clean tap water.
- Achieving a milestone of crossing 75% coverage under the Jal Jeevan Mission in Jammu and Kashmir is a cause for celebration. Out of 18,69,821 rural households, the UT is now providing clean tap water to 14,02,693 rural households.

1346. Kulgam’s Lanker Pombay Village Gets Tap Water for the First Time Under Jal Jeevan Mission
- Kulgam’s Lanker Pombay village, has received tap water connections within premises for the first time marking a significant stride in improving access to clean water in the rural households through “Jal Jeevan Mission.
- The achievement under the mission is Lanker Pombay village of Panchayat Khaloora in Kulgam district, comprising about 80 households.
- With the launch of Jal Jeevan Mission, a water supply scheme with dug-well as source worth Rs. 187.68 lakh, was conceived for this habitation for providing potable water supplies as per prescribed standards. The land for construction of 0.60 Lakh Gallons RCC SR was provided by the villagers unhindered.
- Now, the scheme with a rising main length of 2000 m, distribution pipe network of about 6000 m and Reinforced Cement Concrete Service Reservoir, stands completed and the water supply through household level tap connections is being provided to the habitation.

1347. J&K Over 1,300 Villages Get 100% Tap Water Under Jal Jeevan Mission
- Few public initiatives have delivered as tangible a benefit in Jammu & Kashmir as the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM). In 2019, only about 30% of the Union Territory’s rural households had piped drinking water; by early 2025, that share has risen to over 81%.
- In real terms, more than 15 lakh rural families now enjoy a functional tap at home, yielding tangible improvements in daily convenience and public health. Such rapid gains in a region with difficult terrain and a history of patchy services reflect effective administration, engineering innovation, and grassroots participation in equal measure.
- Since 2019, over 1300 villages in J&K now have 100% of households with running water. Importantly, local Gram Panchayats in 824 of these villages have verified and declared every household as having a safe tap supply, earning them the Har Ghar Jal certification under JJM.
- More than 1,100 new wells and tube-wells have been constructed or augmented, roughly 1,700 water treatment plants installed, 500 Over Head Tanks, 8000 plus service reservoirs and an extensive network of 60,000 km of water pipelines laid across both plains and remote hamlets.

1348. At 13,000 Feet, Skampuk Village in Ladakh Gets Tap Water for the First Time
- The Jal Jeevan Mission reached a major milestone recently, when it provided clean drinking water to a remote village in Ladakh. The residents of Skampuk village in Leh's Nubra block now get potable water even in sub-zero temperature.
- The village is located at a height of 13,000 feet. What makes this achievement significant is that the people living all 105 households here are getting water which is not frozen. it has been made possible by an insulation jacket around the pipe.
- The day temperature in Skampuk is recorded minus 3 degrees Celsius, and it plunges to minus 11 degrees Celsius during the night. Still, the people living here are facing no issues with water supply.
- Under the Jal Jeevan Mission-Har Ghar Jal scheme, every rural household is to be provided with a functional tap water connection.

1349. After 75 Years, Remote Villages in Ladakh Finally Receive Tap Water Connections
- About 75 years after the independence, several habitations of Union Territory of Ladakh have started getting tap water supply as despite challenging terrain and extreme climatic conditions the administration is leaving no stone unturned to implement the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) of the Government of India.
- There are a total of 44076 households in Ladakh and till August 15, 2019 only 1414 households were covered under the Jal Jeevan Mission because of varied reasons.
- Since the formation of Union Territory the implementation of Mission has picked up remarkably and this can be gauged from the official figures which reveal that as on today 9423 households have been provided tap water connections.
- For the first time since independence, all the households in 15 villages—three in Kargil and 12 in Leh district have been provided tap water connections under the Mission by the Union Territory administration and work stands allotted in respect of remaining villages and by August 15 next year all the 44076 households will have tap water connections.

1350. Umla Village in Ladakh Gets Tap Water for the First Time Under Jal Jeevan Mission
- The Jal Jeevan Mission, which aims to provide safe drinking tap water by 2024, has begun transforming lives in various parts of the country. \
- In the Umla village in Leh in the Union territory of Ladakh, households located in the harsh mountain terrain received tap water supply for the first time under the Jal Jeevan Mission.
- Umla, which is home to just 25 families, is now the 12th village that has access to tap water supply even in sub-zero temperatures.
