1291. Chhattisgarh Brings Electricity to 17 Remote Maoist Affected Villages for the First Time
- Seventeen villages nestled among nearly inaccessible mountains and dense forests in Naxal-hit Mohla-Manpur-Ambagarh Chowki district of Chhattisgarh have got electricity from the supply grid for the first time.
- Due to the difficult terrain, reaching these areas was extremely challenging amid the Naxalite threat. Providing the electricity supply through the grid was no less than a mission in these villages.
- The villages had access to solar power to light up bulbs, but faced maintenance issues. In many villages, solar panels got stolen, forcing children to study under kerosene lamps.
- Of the 540 families in these 17 villages, 275 have got electricity connections so far. The work to provide the power supply to the remaining households is underway.
1292. After 40 Years in Darkness, Chhattisgarh Village Gets Electricity Again
- After four long decades of darkness, Polampad village in Chhattisgarh's Sukma district lit up with joy, as electricity returned to the remote, Maoist-hit region for the first time in 40 years.
- It turned into a historic moment for Polampad, where villagers celebrated the arrival of electricity with renewed hope. For years, the community lived without basic facilities, as Maoists destroyed power lines, roads, and cut off access to development.
- Electricity has returned after around 40 years. The CRPF set up their camp near the village in 2024 and restored electricity. In this area, a lot of villages had electricity, but the Naxalites destroyed the power connection to a lot of villages.
1293. Shopian's Remote Villages Received Electricity for the First Time
- Some far-flung villages in Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian area were finally provided with electricity for the first time. Various villages of Dunnadi in Sopian’s Keller Tehsil were without electricity even after 70 years of India’s Independence.
- The villages in the Keller Tehsil are remote and difficult to access. The areas are within steep hills and forests, making electrification a challenging task.
- The electricity to these villages has been provided under the central government scheme, Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana which was launched by the Prime Minister in 2017.

1294. Electricity Reached Remote Nowshera Villages for the First Time Under Saubhagya Scheme.
- In a positive development, several villages in the hilly-border areas in the Nowshera sub-division in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir were electrified by the Union government under the flagship Saubhagya scheme.
- As per reports, about 44 Panchayats in Nowshera have been covered under the electrification project. Over 1500 hundred families living in these far-flung villages now have access to electricity. Saubhagya Scheme provides free electricity connections to poor households.
- the villages had no electricity even after 70 years of Independence. While speaking on the laudable development work in Rajouri, a local resident was quoted by saying “We’re grateful to govt. Earlier, our children couldn’t study. We had to go to another village to get phones charged.

1295. Photoksar Village in Ladakh Receives Electricity for the First Time Since Independence
- A remote village in Ladakh- Photoksar, situated between two major high altitude passes of the Union Territory of Ladakh got electricity supply for the first time since the Independence.
- The visionary initiatives of Prime Minister , who launched the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana, and the energetic efforts of Ladakh MP Jamyang Tsering Namgyal that after 70 years of darkness, a village-like Photoksar got electrified.
- The remote village is about 165 km away from Leh and it is situated beyond the Sisir-La Pass (15,620 ft). As per the reports, the Central government is all set to install a power supply to five more villages including Skyumpata, Lingshed, Yulchung, Nyraks, and Dipling in the coming days.

1296. Tanta Village in J&K's Doda Gets Electricity for the First Time
- The Tanta village in Jammu and Kashmir's mountainous Doda district received electricity for the first time ending decades of darkness.
- The Doda district administration to ensure the electrification of the remote village within one month. Following the orders, the District Administration swept into action and the task of electrifying the remote village was completed in a record time of 10 days.
- Despite two to three feet deep snow, the entire administration and company involved in the electrification project were mobilised. Within 10 days, all the work including the erection of poles, installation of wires, and ensuring electricity supply to all the houses of the area, was completed.

1297. Saddal Village in Jammu & Kashmir Gets Electricity for the First Time
- After 75 years of Independence, the village Saddal of Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur got freedom from darkness by getting electricity for the first time on wednesday, under the Central Government’s ‘Untied Grants Scheme’.
- As the houses have got electrified, natives of this village turned hopeful for a better future for their children. Earlier, the only source of light during the evening, in the village was candles and oil lamps, which gradually became a part of their day-to-day life.
- The villagers seem overjoyed as their long-pending demand for getting proper electricity has finally been fulfilled. For the success of this mission villagres gave credit to the three Tier system of the Panchayati Raj Act which was recently implemented in Jammu and Kashmir.

1298. Kashmir Village Lit Up for the First Time Since Independence
- The people of the tribal area in Tethan, Dooru of Anantnag district witnessed the lighting of electric bulbs under Indian Prime Minister "Har Ghar Bijli Yojna" for the first time.
- It is a very hilly village and have managed to provide electricity for these villagers for the first time. It was due to the schemes and efforts by the government to work so hard to provide these villagers with electricity. As these areas have no road access so we had to carry the material ourselves to install in these places
- The efforts made by the government to provide electricity for these far-flung areas have been appreciated by everyone in the Union Territory. The Power Development Department has been working extensively to provide electricity to areas still living in darkness.

1299. Centre approves ₹12,328 crore rail push across 5 states, adding 565 km network
- On August 28, 2025, it was reported that the Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved four railway projects with a cost of INR 12,328 crore, a government press note .
- The projects comprise the construction of a new rail line connecting Deshalpar-Hajipir-Luna, and Vayor and Lakhpat, a third and fourth line between Secunderabad (Sanathnagar)-Wadi, a third line from Bhagalpur to Jamalpur, and doubling of the Furkating-New Tinsukia line.
- The estimated cost of the lines there is INR 2,526 crore, with a three-year construction deadline.
1300. UP’s first privately-run station: Gomti Nagar in Lucknow to offer airport-style food courts
- On August 28, 2025, it was reported that Lucknow’s Gomti Nagar Railway Station is set to become the first railway station in Uttar Pradesh to be managed privately.
- According to officials This change marks an important step in the modernisation of Indian Railways and is being introduced under the Integrated Station Facility Management System (ISFMS).
- Under this system, the day-to-day operations of the station, except for train movement, ticketing, and passenger security, will be handled by private companies.
