1151. J-K: Indian Army rescues pilgrims stranded at Machail Mata Temple after Kishtwar cloudburst
- The Indian Army and disaster response teams are rescuing pilgrims stranded at the Machail Mata Temple after a cloudburst in Kishtwar district on 17 August 2025 that has killed at least 55 people. Army personnel evacuating stranded pilgrims and recovering bodies from the affected area.
- General Officer Commanding Counter Insurgency Force - Delta, Major General APS Bal, said security forces are working to rescue as many people as possible.
- The Indian Army's rapid response, troops reached the site within 45 minutes of the disaster. Over five columns of 60 personnel each, totalling 300 troops, and medical detachments of White Knight Corps are on the ground, working with police SDRF and other civilian agencies to save lives.

1152. Gangotri highway reopens 24 days after Harsil-Dharali disaster
- Vehiclular movement to Gangotri Dham resumed 24 days after a massive flood submerged a key stretch of the Gangotri national highway between Harsil and Dharali, officials said on Saturday. A temporary lake had formed due to the flood, cutting off access to the pilgrimage site and affecting yatra movement.
- The BRO and Army teams, who were unable to reach Harsil initially due to landslides and subsidence between Bhatwadi and Songad, began debris-clearing operations on 26 August 2025 and 27 August 2025.
- Machines were mobilised after the Songad stretch was restored, and Hume pipes were laid in the Telgad area to allow vehicles to reach Gangotri.

1153. Indian Army’s ATOR N1200 amphibious vehicle rescues villagers from deep floodwater in Punjab
- The Indian Army has deployed its newly inducted ATOR N1200 amphibious vehicle to rescue people stranded in flood-hit villages of Punjab.
- The vehicle, designed to move through deep water and rugged terrain, was pressed into service in Amritsar as heavy rains submerged large parts of the state.
- The advanced vehicle has been helping the Army and NDRF teams reach areas cut off by floodwaters, moving villagers to safer places. In Gurdaspur, nearly 400 students and staff of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya were trapped after floodwaters entered the school building.

1154. Army builds bailey bridge over Tawi within 12 hours
- On 29 August 2025, Indian Army swiftly constructed a 110-foot bailey bridge over the Tawi River in Jammu city within 12 hours after a section of the ₹147 crore fourth bridge collapsed due to heavy rainfall on 26 August, 2025.
- The recent heavy rains triggered floods across Jammu, Samba, Kathua, Pathankot and Gurdaspur, causing widespread infrastructure damage. Since August 26, the Army’s Rising Star Corps, supported by Air Force helicopters, has rescued nearly 1,000 stranded people, including children and paramilitary personnel.
- Critical communication links between Jammu and Srinagar were also restored by laying alternative optical fiber cables. Medical aid, food, and relief materials have been provided to affected families in coordination with civil authorities.

1155. J&K: Army builds another Bailey bridge to restore traffic on NH-244
- Braving incessant rains, the Army on 2 September 2025, built a Bailey bridge along National Highway-244, over the Jangalwar stream, providing connectivity to Doda and Kishtwar districts of Jammu and Kashmir.
- The second such bridge constructed by the Army in the wake of last week's record rainfall that has left behind a trail of death and destruction in the region.
- Despite challenges of weather and terrain, the bridge construction has commenced in full swing with engineers in close coordination with civil administration.
- In the face of adversities, rough terrain and weather, engineer troops of the Army's Northern Command, in concert with troops of the White Knight Corps and civil administration, have completed the construction of the Bailey bridge over Jangalwar Nallah, restoring vital connectivity on NH-244 to Doda and Kishtwar, in record time.

1156. BHEL bags order worth ₹23 cr to supply KAVACH equipment to Railways
- On September 11, 2025, Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) received a ₹22.87 crore order from Indian Railways (South Western Railway) to design, supply, install, and commission KAVACH automatic train protection systems.
- State-owned BHEL will execute the project through its Bengaluru manufacturing plant. The order includes on-board locomotive equipment and trackside installations at stations, level crossings, intermediate block sections, and automatic block signaling locations.
- The Letter of Intent specifies an 18-month execution period. KAVACH is India’s indigenous automatic train protection technology aimed at enhancing safety by preventing collisions and improving operational efficiency in the railway network.
1157. Piyush Goyal inaugurates APEDA’s first regional office in Bihar, boosting state’s agri-export potential
- On September 11, 2025, Union Minister of Commerce and inaugurated Bihar’s first APEDA regional office in Patna during the Bihar Idea Festival, aiming to boost the state’s global agricultural export presence and provide direct exporter services.

1158. IIT Madras launches Tamil Nadu start-up dashboard to attract global investors
- On 12 September, 2025, It was reported that, IIT Madras and Guidance Tamil Nadu, the government’s nodal agency for investment promotion, have launched a new start-up and innovation dashboard named ‘INNOVATION-TN.’
- Minister, IIT Madras, and Guidance Tamil Nadu spearheaded the initiative. IIT Madras provides research oversight via CREST and YNOS, while Guidance Tamil Nadu drives industry engagement, enabling investors, industries, and start-ups to connect effectively.
- Tamil Nadu hosts nearly 19,000 start-ups, 2.2 lakh jobs, Rs 1,20,000 crore investments, 45 major ventures with Rs 200 crore-plus funding, and 228 incubatorsm the highest in India. The dashboard aids policy-making, attracts global investors, and strengthens district-level innovation.
1159. India announces $ 680 million package to boost Mauritius’ infra, security; Mauritius backs Indian presence in Chagos
- On 12 September, 2025, It was reported that, In Varanasi, during a bilateral meeting, India announced a $680 million special economic package for Mauritius, including redevelopment of Port Louis, Chagos Marine Protected Area projects, and infrastructure development to boost regional security and connectivity.
- Prime Ministers of India and Navinchandra Ramgoolam signed agreements, with India supporting Mauritius through grants and credit lines, hydrography cooperation, maritime capacity building, ship refitting, and officer training, reinforcing Mauritius as India’s strategic partner in the Indian Ocean.
- The package includes $25 million budgetary assistance, ATC tower, highway expansion, and navigation surveys. India backed Mauritius’ sovereignty over Chagos, stressing decolonization. Ramgoolam highlighted India’s symbolic role, while Modi reaffirmed India’s Neighbourhood First policy and Vision MAHASAGAR priorities.
1160. Indian Govt Pushes For Green Hydrogen Startups, Launches ₹100 Crore Fund
- On 11 September, 2025 Union Minister of New and Renewable Energy launched a Rs 100 crore Call for Proposals at the 1st Annual Green Hydrogen R&D Conference in New Delhi, supporting start-ups working on green hydrogen innovation.
- The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) will fund up to Rs 5 crore per project for pilot initiatives in hydrogen production, storage, transport, and utilisation, while 25 start-ups showcase technologies like electrolysers, AI optimisation, and biological hydrogen solutions.
- Under the National Green Hydrogen Mission, India aims to produce 5 million tonnes of green hydrogen annually by 2030, expand 125 GW renewable capacity, attract Rs 8 lakh crore investment, reduce 50 million tonnes of CO₂, and boost employment and exports.
