1091. Maharashtra's tribal village gets electricity after 70 years of independence

- Tucked deep into the interiors of Melghat forest in Amravati district, the people of Bulumgavan erupted in joy on 13 April, 2018 as the village finally received electric supply and first state transport bus connectivity seventy years after Independence.
- Power supply had reached only till Katkumbh village, which falls 3.5 km before Bulumgavan, mainly inhabited by 589 Korku tribals. Moreover, state transport buses, which plied from Dharni to Bairagad, stopped 4 km before the village and people had to complete rest of journey by foot.
- The transformation in Bulumgavan village has been brought about through the Maharashtra Village Social Transformation Foundation (MVSTF) initiative. The foundation has taken up the task of changing the lives of 1,000 villages in the state through specially appointed Chief Minister’s Rural Development Fellows (CMRDFs).

- On September 19, 2025 in Rewa, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister inaugurated and laid foundation stones of development projects worth over ₹162 crore, including road works, Chillawala bridge, hospital upgrades, new ITI, and industrial area projects.
- CM , addressing at Chakghat Krishi Upaj Mandi, distributed land allotment letters to industrialists, announced assistance for a bereaved family, and performed Bhoomi Poojan of a ₹125 crore compressed biogas plant by IOCGPS Renewable Pvt. Ltd. using crop residues.
- CM highlighted Vindhya’s role as an emerging “Energy Capital” through thermal, solar, and renewables, and reiterated state welfare schemes for students, women, and farmers, including Ladli Behna Yojana, PM Kisan support, orchard funding, and subsidies under Dr. Ambedkar Kamdhenu Yojana.

- On September 19, Oil India Limited (OIL) signed a Joint Venture Agreement with Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited in Rajasthan to develop 1.2 GW renewable energy projects, including 1000 MW solar and 200 MW wind capacity.
- The agreement was signed by Devendra Shringi of RVUNL and Ranjan Goswami of OIL, in presence of senior officials. The joint venture will combine OIL’s energy expertise and RVUNL’s project experience to deliver sustainable clean power.
- The partnership will also explore green hydrogen and supply power to DISCOMs and commercial users. Additionally, OIL signed an MoU with Hindustan Copper Limited to jointly develop copper and strategic minerals, diversifying beyond oil and gas.

- On 19 september, 2025 indian railway announced that, on September 20 and September 25, Indian Railways will launch Amrit Bharat Express trains on the Saharsa–Chheharta (Punjab) and Erode (Tamil Nadu)–Jogbani (Bihar) routes to improve long-distance connectivity across North and South India.
- The East Central Railway announced the services, with departures scheduled weekly. Trains will run via key junctions, ensuring smooth operations and improved travel access for common passengers, supported by regular weekly timetables and extensive halts across major states.
- Each Amrit Bharat Express includes 22 sleeper and general coaches, designed for affordable long-distance travel. The trains will reduce travel time, link smaller towns, and enhance connectivity across Bihar, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Uttarakhand.

- On 19 september, 2025 It was reported that, The Chhattisgarh State Power Transmission Company Limited (CSPTCL) commissioned a 60-km, 132 kV double-circuit transmission line between Dongargaon and Mohla, built at a cost of Rs 6 crore, to improve electricity supply in tribal and forest regions.
- CSPTCL, led by Managing Director Rajesh Kumar Shukla, completed the project in difficult forest terrain. The double-circuit system ensures a redundant supply path, reducing outages, improving voltage stability, and enabling uninterrupted power to Mohla and nearby areas.
- The project will benefit 250+ villages, directly supporting agriculture, irrigation, lift schemes, small industries, and household electrification. It is expected to boost rural development and economic activity in historically underserved tribal regions of Chhattisgarh.

- On September 19, 2025, Dhordo village in Kutch, Gujarat, became fully solar-powered under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, making it the fourth solar village in Gujarat. PM Modi will officially dedicate this achievement on September 20, 2025 in Bhavnagar.
- The initiative benefited 81 homes, solarising each residential electricity connection. Villagers installed solar rooftops with government subsidies and bank loans, enabling self-generation of electricity and feeding surplus power to the grid for additional income.
- The 177 kW solar rooftops are expected to produce 2.95 lakh units annually, saving roughly Rs 16,064 per home per year and generating a total benefit of over Rs 13 lakh annually. Dhordo now serves as a model for sustainable, clean energy-driven prosperity.

- On September 19, 2025, the Indian Coast Guard Ship (ICGS) Adamya was commissioned at Paradip Port, Odisha. It is the first of eight Adamya-class Fast Patrol Vessels (FPVs) to enhance India’s maritime security and surveillance capabilities.
- Commanded by Commandant (JG) Anurag Pandey with 5 officers and 34 personnel, Adamya was indigenously designed and built by Goa Shipyard Limited with over 60% indigenous content under the “Make in India” initiative.
- The 51-meter vessel displaces 320 tons, achieves 28 knots speed, has a 1500 nm endurance, and features a 30 mm CRN91 gun, two 12.7 mm SRCGs, Integrated Bridge, Platform, and Power Management Systems. It will safeguard India’s maritime interests under the Coast Guard’s NE region.

- The Ministry of Tribal Affairs (MoTA) hosted a National Conference of District Magistrates at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi on 21 January 2025, to accelerate the implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan (PM JANMAN).
- Launched on November 15, 2023, to commemorate Janjatiya Gaurav Divas, the initiative seeks to enhance the socio-economic conditions of Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs) across the country.
- With a ₹24,000 crore budget allocated over three years (2023-2026), PM JANMAN aims to bridge developmental gaps in tribal areas by providing essential services, including housing, healthcare, education, clean drinking water, road connectivity, and sustainable livelihood opportunities.

- The landscape of healthcare in J&K is undergoing a profound transformation. What was once a region with underserved medical facilities is now witnessing an unprecedented wave of development, thanks to dedicated efforts from the central government.
- As of March 31, 2021, Jammu and Kashmir had remarkably strengthened its primary healthcare infrastructure under the National Health Mission (NHM). The region boasted an extensive network of 2,470 Sub-Centres, 923 Primary Health Centres (PHCs), and 77 Community Health Centres (CHCs), significantly enhancing grassroots healthcare access.
- Further bolstering specialised care, J&K’s maternal and child health facilities included 32 Sick Newborn Care Units (SNCUs), 69 Newborn Stabilization Units (NBSUs), and 282 Newborn Care Corners (NBCCs).

- The Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan, a package for basic scheme saturation in tribal-majority villages across 550 districts, at an event in Jharkhand’s Hazaribag district, where PM also laid the foundation stones for a host of other projects intended to benefit tribal people across the country.
- The package, originally coined as the PM Janjatiya Unnat Gram Abhiyan (PM-JUGA), was cleared by the Union Cabinet last month as an umbrella package to implement existing schemes in 63,000 Scheduled Tribe-majority villages.
- 25 interventions planned under the package launched by the Prime Minister on Wednesday. An outlay of ₹79,156 crore, to be spent over five years, has been cleared by the Union Cabinet. Of this, the Central share will be ₹56,333 crore and the share of respective States will be ₹22,823 crore.
