2181. DoNER ministry allocates 32.5cr for Tripura cultural hub
- On 14 April 2025,It was reported that,Tripura chief minister said the ministry of DoNER has allocated Rs 32.5 crore for a cultural hub to boost the tribal heritage of the state after inaugurating state-level Buisu festival of tribals on Bengali New Year.
- Speaking at the state-level Buisu festival in Karbook, Gomati district, Saha revealed that an initial allocation of Rs. 32.5 crore has been earmarked for the project. The cultural hub aims to preserve and promote the rich traditions and heritage of Tripura’s diverse communities.
- The state boasts the National School of Drama, Lalit Kala Academy, Sangeet Natak Academy and Sahitya Akademi, which benefit children in various ways, and they are getting the opportunity to build their careers in the cultural field.
2182. PM Modi inaugurates Northeast's first Vande Bharat Express
- On 29 May 2023, Prime Minister Of India inaugurated Northeast's first Vande Bharat Express that will cover a journey of 411 km between Guwahati and New Jalpaiguri in North Bengal in five-and-a-half hours.
- So far, the fastest train covering the same distance took six-and-a-half hours to travel in this route.
- While Northeast got its first made in India Vande Bharat Express, it is the third Vande Bharat to connect West Bengal," Modi said, after the virtual flag off at 12:40 pm from Guwahati railway station.

2183. Breathtaking video! Indian Railways readies 1st rail girder bridge with over 100 m high piers in North-east
- Indian Railways gets its first bridge with over 100 metres high piers! The girders for Bridge number 44 – part of the upcoming Jiribam-Imphal railway line – have been launched over river Makru in the district of Tamenglong, Manipur.
- According to the Northeast Frontier Railway zone, due to anti-social elements activities, the security of railway officials as well as the staff of construction companies was a big challenge. Thus, to cater to this issue, CPRF, as well as Manipur Rifles companies, have been deployed at both ends of bridge number 44.
- The Jiribam-Imphal railway line will connect the Northeast state of Manipur to the rest of India through the Indian Railways network.

2184. India, Russia celebrate 78 years of diplomatic relations with cycle rally
- On 13 April, 2025, New Delhi hosted a cycle rally with over 300 participants to mark the 78th anniversary of India-Russia diplomatic ties and the 80th anniversary of Russia’s victory in the Great Patriotic War.
- Russian Ambassador Denis Alipov and the Russian Embassy highlighted strong bilateral cooperation, citing active collaboration in space, nuclear energy, defence, education, trade, and tourism.
- India received an invitation for PM Modi and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to attend Russia’s Victory Day celebrations, while both nations prepared for Russian President Vladimir Putin’s upcoming visit to India.

2185. Indian Startup Ecosystem Raises Over $180 Million This Week
- On 12 April, 2025, it was reported that, India’s startup ecosystem raised over $180 million across 24 deals in one week, with fintech emerging as the most funded sector and Juspay securing the largest share at $60 million in its Series D round led by Kedaara Capital.
- Early-stage deals were led by Xindus with a $10 million Series A round, while Noise, Easebuzz, and Urban Company also attracted significant growth-stage investments; boAt filed its IPO draft via the confidential route.
- In Q1 2025, India ranked third globally in fintech funding, which totalled $366 million, with March alone accounting for $187 million; Bengaluru led in funding volume, and acquisitions surged 67% year-on-year.
2186. In a first, India uses laser-based weapon to shoot down aircraft, missiles and drones; joins select list of countries that have capability
- On 13 April 2025, India successfully tested a 30-kilowatt laser-based weapon system, developed by DRDO, which neutralised drones, missiles, and fixed-wing aircraft within a 5 km range, marking a major advancement in directed-energy weapon technology.
- The system included advanced features like 360-degree EO/IR targeting, satellite signal jamming, and multi-platform deployment, and was declared ready for production and integration into ground and naval forces.
- India also developed a more powerful 300-kilowatt ‘Surya’ laser weapon, with a 20 km range to target high-speed aerial threats, joining countries like the US, China, and Russia in possessing advanced laser weapon capabilities.
2187. India launches biggest-ever joint naval exercises in Africa
- On 13 April, 2025, it was reported that, India launched its largest-ever joint naval exercise with African nations, co-hosted by Tanzania, involving nine countries including Kenya, South Africa, and Mauritius, as part of its effort to expand influence in Africa and the Indian Ocean amid China's growing presence.
- The six-day drill, featuring both harbour and sea phases, is aimed at enhancing maritime cooperation, anti-piracy capabilities, and positioning India as a “preferred security partner” in the region, with plans to make it a biennial event.
- Despite increasing naval engagement and high-profile operations like the MV Ruen rescue, experts caution that India’s growing maritime ambitions may outpace its current naval capabilities.

2188. Apple's India iPhone Production Surges 60 Per Cent To Rs 1.89 Lakh Crore In FY25, Exports Hit Rs 1.5 Lakh Crore
- On 13 April, 2025 it was reported that, Apple's iPhone production in India surged by 60% in FY 2024–25, reaching Rs 1.89 lakh crore in turnover, with Rs 1.5 lakh crore worth of exports, amid shifting global supply chains due to the US-China trade war.
- India’s smartphone exports rose 54% to Rs 1.75 lakh crore between April–February 2024–25, with Apple contributing 70% of the exports—Foxconn (50%), Tata Electronics via Wistron (22%), and Pegatron (12%).
- India’s Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme significantly boosted electronics manufacturing, helping the country meet 99% of domestic smartphone demand while exceeding export estimates even before FY-end.

2189. Amaravati-Hyderabad Expressway Centre Approves 220-Km Greenfield Route
- On 12 April 2025 The central government has finally approved the Amaravati-Hyderabad Expressway. This expressway will be Greenfield Expressway. The length of this upcoming expressway is 220 Kilometers.
- The Greenfield Expressway will enhance road connectivity between Amaravati and Hyderabad. The Ministry of Home Affairs recently announced the development, as part of its ongoing efforts to resolve issues stemming from the 2014 state division.
- The Centre has pledged complete financial support for the Amaravati-Hyderabad Expressway, covering even the cost of land acquisition. The project cost around Rs 25,000 crore.
