2071. ISRO Chief Announces Second Phase Testing Of 200-Ton Semi-Micro Engine In Tamil Nadu
- On 24 April 2025, In Nagercoil, Tamil Nadu, ISRO Chairman V. Narayanan announced that the Mahendragiri Space Centre is testing a 200-ton semi-micro engine powered by liquid oxygen and kerosene, emphasizing that India is progressing based on its people's needs, not global competition.
- For this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated a test facility worth Rs 1,000 crore to the country in Mahendragiri last year. The first phase of the test has already been completed, and the second phase is being conducted now.
- During his visit, ISRO Chairman Narayanan said that ISRO is actively working on sending humans to the moon by 2040. To recall, India made the groundbreaking discovery of water on the Moon through Chandrayaan 1. The country also leads globally in the advanced camera technology used in Chandrayaan-2. With Chandrayaan-3, India became the first country in the world to land on the south pole of the moon. ISRO is currently preparing for the Gaganyaan mission with Chandrayaan-4 launch set for 2027.
2072. India sends USD 2 million in medical aid to Nepal under Neighbourhood First Policy.
- On 25 April 2025 India reaffirmed its commitment to the Neighbourhood First Policy by sending USD 2 million worth of medical aid to Nepal.
- The assistance includes medicines and vaccines for patients with Thalassemia and Sickle Cell Disease. The first tranche of this aid consists of 17,030 vials of vaccines for the immunisation of Thalassemia patients.
- Sharing a post on X, Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson "Reaffirming India's commitment to Neighbourhood First Policy. India sends assistance consisting of medicines and vaccines for patients with Thalassemia and Sickle Cell Disease worth $2 million, responding to a request from Nepal."

2073. India donates 4.8 tons of vaccines to Afghanistan, bracing humanitarian commitment
- On 24 April 2025 India sent a shipment of 4.8 tonnes of vaccines to Afghanistan, which included rabies, tetanus, hepatitis B and influenza vaccines. This step, managed by the XP Division in the Indian Ministry of External Affairs,
- The vaccines have also been received by the Afghan Ministry of Public Health, who noted the importance these vaccines will have in solving some of the issues related to healthcare in the country. The donation primarily focusses on reducing these diseases amongst the most at-risk populations.
- The demonstrates India’s active commitment towards being a partner to the Global South and to promote international collaboration and support when there is a crisis.

2074. Isro signs new agreement to boost space medicine research for Gaganyaan Mission
- On 25 April 2025, It was reported that, In a major stride for India’s space and medical research sectors, the Indian Space Research Organisation (Isro) and Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences & Technology (SCTIMST) has signed a ‘Framework Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in Space Medicine’.
- The MoU aims to drive progress in areas such as human physiological and behavioral health studies, biomedical support systems, radiation biology, telemedicine, and the development of crew medical kits for space missions.
- The MoU is aimed to inspire the next generation to pursue STEM careers and drive innovation, positioning India at the forefront of space medicine research and technology.
2075. THDC India synchronises first unit of its 1,000-MW pumped storage project in pump condenser mode
- State-owned THDC India on 24 April 2025, announced synchronisation of the first 250 MW unit of its pumped storage plant (PSP) in pump condenser mode at Tehri in Uttarakhand.
- In pump condenser mode of operation, the turbine is used to generate electricity and simultaneously as a condenser or a heat exchanger. THDC India is constructing a 1,000-MW (250 MW X 4 units) PSP project at Tehri.
- “CMD R K Vishnoi has announced achievement towards successful commissioning of India’s first variable speed 1,000 MW PSP at Tehri with the successful synchronisation of its first unit (of 250 MW) to the Indian grid in pump condenser mode,” THDC India said in a statement. With the completion of this pumped storage project, the tehri hydro power complex will have a total installed capacity of 2,400 MW.
2076. Chhattisgarh steel sector received ₹1 lakh cr investment proposals since industrial policy: Min
- The Chhattisgarh government's new industrial policy has played out well with the state's steel sector receiving investment proposals worth over Rs 1 lakh crore, state's minister for commerce, industry and labour said on 24 April 2025.
- Speaking at the 6th edition of Steel India 2025 Conference and Exhibition here -- hosted jointly by the Ministry of Steel and Industry Body Ficci -- Devangan said states such as Chhattisgarh have been receiving maximum benefits of the Centre's initiatives, including the PLI scheme to promote the sector.
- The Minister said, the state has also enhanced various modes of connectivity in the state, including the ongoing work for a Rs 21,000 crore road project, which is essential for the transportation of the metal.
2077. CONCOR and GAIL collaborate to build LNG infrastructure across India
- On April 23, 2025, in New Delhi, The Ministry of Railways’ Container Corporation of India (CONCOR) and the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas’ GAIL (India) have inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU).
- Through this MoU the partner organisations will construct LNG infrastructure facilities at various CONCOR ports spread across India. This project establishes the goal of providing continuous LNG fuel supply to CONCOR’s transportation operations as part of their sustainable logistics strategy.
- The collaboration will also explore opportunities for collaboration in other areas of mutual interest to strengthen sustainable energy solutions in the logistics sector. The initial installation phase includes building an LNG station at CONCOR’s terminal located in Khodiyar, Ahmedabad. The new project serves to support CONCOR’s current initiative for transitioning towards green energy operations and cleaner fuel use.
2078. Central Electronics Invites Bids for 200 MW Solar Module Plant
- On 25 April 2025,It was reported that, On The Central Electronics (CEL), a Ministry of Science and Technology undertaking, has floated a tender to set up a 200 MW solar module manufacturing line in Sahibabad, Uttar Pradesh. The last date to submit bids is May 14, 2025. Bids will be opened on the same day.
- The company’s solar photovoltaics division achieved sales amounting to ₹351.7 million (~$4.11 million) and production worth ₹354.3 million (~$4.14 million) in FY 2024 as against sales of ₹472.7 million (~$5.53 million) and production worth ₹381.1 million (~$4.46 million) respectively, in the previous year.
- In April 2025, the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy updated the ALMM by adding 14,670 MW of solar module manufacturing capacity. After the latest additions, the cumulative module manufacturing capacity reached 88,905 MW.
2079. Chhattisgarh signs MoU with CMAI; aims to become new textile hub
- Chhattisgarh government on 23 April 2025, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Clothing Manufacturers Association of India (CMAI), marking a major step towards transforming the state into a hub for textile and apparel manufacturing.
- The MoU to set up the CMAI Textile and Apparel facilitation centre in Raipur would prove to be a milestone in boosting the textile sector in the state and open doors of opportunity for investment.
- The state cabinet has recently approved to establish the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) campus in Nava Raipur, a move that underlines the government's focus on skill development and design innovation in textiles.

2080. Uttar Pradesh signs MoU with Australian entity, Hinduja Group to promote renewable energy
- On 24April 2025 The Uttar Pradesh government has signed an MoU with the Smart Energy Council of Australia and Hinduja Group to generate employment in the renewable energy sector in the state.
- The MoU was signed by UP Chief Secretary who emphasized the importance of developing skilled manpower to meet the state's ambitious target of 22,000 MW solar capacity.
- The facilitate technology transfer and commercialization of advanced renewable technologies; build robust solar and green hydrogen value chains; and support bilateral investment and student exchange initiatives between India and Australia.
