1871. India, Italy agree to enhance agriculture and energy cooperation, investments
- On June 6, 2025, the government announced that India and Italy will enhance cooperation in agriculture and energy sectors following Commerce Minister two-day visit to Italy on 5 June 2025, where he co-chaired the 22nd India-Italy JCEC with Deputy PM Antonio Tajani.
- “India and Italy resolved to strengthen cooperation in agriculture and food processing, and to set up Joint Working Groups in the automobile and space sectors.”
- According to the government, a delegation of leaders from about 90 companies accompanied Commerce Minister his trip, during which they visited Italian industries and held several meetings with local companies.

1872. India’s First Solar EV Charging Station With Second-Life Battery Opens In Bengaluru
- On June 6, 2025, Karnataka launched its first solar-powered EV charging station with second-life battery storage at the BESCOM EV Hub near the airport, inaugurated by Karnataka Energy Minister K J George under the RE2EV pilot project.
- The RE2EV station began operating with a 45 kWp solar rooftop system and a 100 kWh Battery Energy Storage System made from repurposed EV batteries, enabling sustainable, grid-independent charging for up to 23 vehicles.
- Information about the RE2EV project, which is being supported by GIZ India, BESCOM, and DULT under the SUM-ACA initiative, is accessible via BESCOM's 'EV Mitra' app, according to authorities.
1873. Coal India ties up with IPRRCL to develop rail infrastructure
- On June 5, 2025, in Kolkata, Coal India Ltd (CIL) signed a non-binding MoU with Indian Port Rail & Ropeway Corporation Ltd (IPRRCL) to develop rail infrastructure for CIL and its subsidiaries.
- The joint venture was set up to provide rail evacuation systems to major ports and to support their capacity and throughput.
- IPRRCL is a joint venture company formed between 11 major ports under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, which holds 90 per cent of the equity capital, and Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL), which holds the remaining 10 per cent under the Ministry of Railways.
1874. Delhi government grants Rs 417 crore to Delhi University, unveils education schemes
- On June 6, 2025, the Delhi government released ₹417 crore to 12 fully funded Delhi University colleges, including Deen Dayal Upadhyaya and Bhaskaracharya College, to ensure timely salaries and smooth operations amid prior funding delays.
- Delhi Education Minister Ashish Sood announced new education reforms, including the launch of 75 CM Shri Schools, 100 APJ Abdul Kalam Language Labs, and 250 digital libraries to boost learning with AI, AR/VR, and foreign languages.
- More than 2,500 students in Delhi were given computers, scholarships, and free JEE, NEET, and CUET coaching through a variety of programs, ensuring that kids from low-income families had fair access to higher education.
1875. Boson Cell leads India's march towards sustainable energy storage solutions
- On June 6, 2025, Boson Cell, India’s first indigenous lithium cell manufacturer, launched two new variants—18350 B-30A and 21700 B-50A—to support clean mobility, drones, and renewable energy, aligning with the Atmanirbhar Bharat mission
- CEO Guru Punghavan announced that Boson Cell’s lithium batteries, available in Economy, Advanced, and Extreme variants, will serve electric vehicles, solar systems, power tools, and drones through high-performance, locally-made energy solutions.

1876. Odisha Dy CM Singh Deo inaugurates DNN defence laboratory in capital
- On June 6, 2025, Deputy Chief Minister of Odisha, KV Singh Deo inaugurated Odisha’s first Deep Neural Network (DNN) laboratory at Krystellar Defence and Aerospace in Nayapalli, Bhubaneswar, aimed at advancing AI-driven defence technologies.
- The DNN Lab was launched to promote R&D in UAVs, hypersonic threat detection, cognitive communication, and missile defence, supporting ‘Make in India’ and ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ in defence innovation.
- The DNN Lab will provide advanced training for defense personnel and work with DRDO, PSUs, and Indian entrepreneurs to develop domestic AI-based defense systems, according to Krystellar CEO Uday Bhanu Das.
1877. PM Modi inaugurates world’s highest railway bridge over Chenab river in J&K
- On June 6, 2025, Prime Minister of India inaugurated the world’s highest railway arch bridge over the Chenab River in Reasi, Jammu & Kashmir, marking a historic moment in India’s infrastructure journey under the ₹43,780 crore USBRL project.
- Prime Minister of India flagged off two Vande Bharat Express trains connecting Katra and Srinagar, and also inaugurated the Anji bridge, India’s first cable-stayed railway bridge, completing the 272-km USBRL rail link to Kashmir.
- To boost regional connectivity and improve movement in border areas, the Prime Minister inaugurated key road and flyover projects, including the widening of NH-701 (Rafiabad–Kupwara), the Shopian bypass on NH-444, and new flyovers at Sangrama and Bemina in Srinagar.
1878. PM Modi meets ADB President Masato Kanda; $10 billion pledged for urban infrastructure in India
- On June 1, 2025, Prime Minister of India met Asian Development Bank (ADB) President Masato Kanda in New Delhi, where ADB pledged $10 billion over five years to boost India’s urban infrastructure, including metro expansion and municipal upgrades.
- ADB President Masato Kanda reaffirmed support for PM Modi’s ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’ vision, calling it bold and promising to scale public-private financing and sustainable growth for India’s 1.4 billion citizens.
- President Kanda also met with Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Urban Development Minister Manohar Lal Khattar while in India to talk about how to advance urban climate financing projects, boost rooftop solar energy, and improve rural prosperity.
1879. Arunachal Pradesh Receives Rs 1300 Crore for Highway Development
- On June 5, 2025, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) allocated Rs 1300 crore to Arunachal Pradesh for National Highway development in the 2025–26 financial year, part of a Rs 1600 crore outlay for Northeast India, up from Rs 1060 crore previously.
- Arunachal’s funding, the highest among northeastern states, will support projects like the Frontier Highway along the Line of Actual Control, enhancing connectivity, hydropower development, tourism, and national security, given its borders with China, Myanmar, and Bhutan.
- Other allocations include Assam (Rs 120 crore), Meghalaya (Rs 135 crore), Sikkim (Rs 30 crore), Manipur (Rs 10 crore), and Tripura (Rs 5 crore), with projects executed by state PWDs, MoRTH PIUs, and the Border Roads Organisation for 5055 km of ongoing highway works.
- The investment builds on a decade of 9984 km of National Highways constructed in the Northeast at Rs 1,07,504 crore, aiming to boost economic growth, trade, and accessibility, with posts on X highlighting Arunachal’s strategic infrastructure advancements.

1880. Rafale Fighter Jet Fuselage To Be Made In India As Dassault Inks Pact With Tata Advanced Systems
- On 5 June, 2025, It was reported that, In a major milestone for India's defence manufacturing sector, Dassault Aviation and Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL) have signed four Production Transfer Agreements (PTAs) to produce the fuselage of the Rafale fighter aircraft in India.
- Tata Advanced Systems will establish a state-of-the-art production facility in Hyderabad, dedicated to manufacturing key structural components of the Rafale fighter jet.
