1411. Delhi's highway projects inaugurated by PM will help emerging micro-markets: Developers
- On 17 August,2025 Prime Minister of India Inaugurated two major National Highway projects in the national capital-the Delhi section of the Dwarka Motorway and the Urban Extension Road-II (UER-II).
- The projects worth a combined cost of nearly Rs 11,000 crore First, 10.1 km long Delhi section of Dwarka Motorway has been developed at a cost of around Rs 5,360 crore and Road-II (UER-II) along with new links to Bahadurgarh and Sonipat, built at a cost of around Rs 5,580 Crores.
- Both projects have been developed under the Government's comprehensive plan to decongest the capital, with the objective of greatly improving connectivity, cutting travel time, and reducing traffic in Delhi and its surrounding areas.

1412. NASA-ISRO's $1.3 Billion Satellite NISAR Deploys Its Antenna In Orbit
- On August 16, 2025, The NASA-ISRO Synthetic Aperture Radar (NISAR) satellite successfully deployed its 12 meter wide radar antenna in orbit, an essential step toward enabling its full scale scientific operations.
- NASA and ISRO will begin calibrating the radar systems. Full-scale scientific operations are expected to commence by October 2025 with the satellite poised to deliver critical Earth monitoring data.
- Equipped with both ISRO’s S-band radar and NASA's L-band system, NISAR can detect changes in vegetation, snow, moisture and land dynamics with high precision laying the foundation for enhanced disaster monitoring, environmental tracking and global collaborations.

1414. ISRO space laboratory inaugurated in remote Arunachal district

1415. Tripura Launches 2,000-Building Rooftop Solar Program to Tackle Gas Shortage and Boost Jobs
- On August 16, 2025, Tripura’s Renewable Energy Development Agency launched a program to install solar panels on approximately 2,000 government buildings with a projected generation capacity of about 70 MW of clean electricity.
- The initiative’s first phase is set to add 10.50 MW with tendering nearing completion, builds on the state's growing solar footprint, which has expanded from just 3 MW seven years ago to 26 MW.
- The move responds to declining natural gas supplies that are affecting power plants in Tripura. Alongside reducing reliance on fossil fuels, the program includes training local youth as solar technicians and supervisors to support installation.

- On August 16, 2025, PNC Infratech received a Letter of Award from NHPC to develop a 300 MW ISTS-connected solar power plant paired with a 150 MW/600 MWh energy storage system.
- The project comes with a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement with the supply expected to commence within 24 months from the effective date of the PPA.
- The project is part of NHPC’s broader clean energy expansion strategy, contributing to India’s target of increasing renewable capacity and integrating large scale energy storage for grid stability.
1417. DRDO develops minefield marking system for Indian Army to enable faster, semi-automated deployment – check out its features
- On 14 August, 2025, It was reported that, The Indian Army, with DRDO’s R&DE (E), Pune, has developed Minefield Marking Equipment Mk-II to speed up and reduce manual effort in marking minefields, replacing the earlier Mk-I.
- Mounted on a TATRA 6x6, it can place 500 pickets per run, fence up to 15 km, and operate in plains, semi-deserts, and deserts.
- The semi-automatic system integrates mechanical, electrical, electronic, and pneumatic sub-systems, operates in 0–45°C, needs a four-member crew, and DRDO has invited EOIs from Indian firms for production.
1418. Textile Sector Contributes 8.63% to India’s Exports in FY25
- On 14 August, 2025 in New Delhi, Union Minister of Textiles chaired a high-level meeting with industry stakeholders to review global trade challenges, including recent US reciprocal tariffs, and plan a future strategy.
- India, the 6th largest textile & apparel exporter (4.1% global share), exported $37.7B worth in 2024–25, with the US as its largest market (28.97%).
- The Minister stressed diversifying exports, boosting competitiveness, and targeting EU’s $268.8B textile market, while leveraging India’s 15 FTAs with nations having $198.9B textile import demand.

1419. Exports rise 7.29% to $37.24 bn in July; trade deficit at $27.35 bn
- On 14 Agust 2025, according to official data from the Commerce Ministry, India's exports rebounded by 7.29 per cent to $37.24 billion in July 2025, while trade deficit widened to an eight-month high of $27.35 billion during the month.
- During April-July 2025-26, exports increased by 3.07 per cent to $149.2 billion, while imports rose 5.36 per cent to $244.01 billion.
- Briefing media on the data, Commerce Secretary said that despite global economic uncertainties, India's goods and services exports are doing well. The main sectors that pushed the growth include engineering, electronics, gems and jewellery, pharma and chemicals.

1420. Astrophel Aerospace and IN-SPACe ink MoU for reusable rocket tech and propulsion testing
- On August 14, 2025, Astrophel Aerospace signed MoU with IN-SPACe, granting them access to ISRO facilities, technical reviews, system-level testing and expert guidance for their semi-cryogenic propulsion systems, including turbopumps and engine modules.
- The agreement follows Astrophel’s successful pre-seed funding round, raising ₹6.84 crore to develop its reusable launch hopper and to enhance R&D.
- Astrophel is developing modular, reusable propulsion systems like valves, turbopumps, avionics and guidance systems that have dual use applications across aerospace, clean energy, industrial gas and defense sectors.
