351. India's data centre capacity more than doubled in 2025
- In 2025, across India , data centre capacity additions rose 103% YoY to 387 MW IT, up from 191 MW IT in 2024, according to a Savills India report.
- As per Savills India, growth was driven by global hyperscalers, domestic cloud players, and institutional investors, supported by rising cloud usage, AI workloads, 5G rollout, and IoT expansion.
- Total operational capacity reached 1,520 MW IT; Mumbai (34%), Delhi-NCR (20%), and Chennai (19%) led supply, while emerging markets like Visakhapatnam, Hyderabad, and Kolkata gained traction; the market is projected to exceed 4 GW IT by 2030 at a 23% CAGR.

352. Country's first Bioengineering Centre for Lung Health launched at IIT Hyderabad
- On january 7, 2026, the country's first-of-its-kind Bioengineering Centre of Excellence for Lung Health was launched at IIT Hyderabad in collaboration with the Institute for Lung Health (ILH), Germany.

354. Department of Posts, Agriculture Ministry sign MoU to enable pan-India logistics for testing farm inputs

357. Sikkim Records Over 17 Lakh Tourist Arrivals In 2025
- In 2025, Sikkim (Gangtok district) welcomed over 17 lakh tourists, registering an increase of more than 82,000 arrivals compared to 2024, officials said on January 7.
- According to Tourism Department Additional Chief Secretary CS Rao, domestic tourist arrivals increased sharply, while foreign arrivals declined due to travel disruptions caused by severe damage to NH-10 in October.
- Domestic tourists rose to 16.35 lakh from 15.40 lakh, foreign arrivals fell to 71,710; improved road connectivity may push arrivals to nearly 20 lakh in 2026, supported by Sikkim’s growing appeal as a Himalayan destination.

358. Tata Motors, JSW MG, M&M drive EV retails to 77% growth in 2025: FADA
- On January 7 2026 it was reported that, In 2025, across India passenger EV retail sales surged 77.04% YoY to 176,817 units, with EV penetration rising to 4.0% from 2.4% in 2024.
- According to Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations, growth was driven by strong demand for high-volume EVs and new SUV launches led by Tata Motors, JSW MG Motor India, and Mahindra & Mahindra.
- Tata led with 70,004 units, MG sold 51,387, M&M 33,513; Hyundai, Kia, BYD and luxury brands like BMW saw sharp gains. Data was collated on January 3, 2026, covering 1,401 RTOs, excluding Telangana.
359. Made-in-India Cars Reach Global Markets As Exports Rise 15% In 2025
- On January 7, 2026, India’s automotive sector, Made-in-India passenger vehicle exports recorded a strong performance in 2025, with exports rising by around 15% year-on-year. Major automobile manufacturers such as Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai Motor India, Tata Motors, and Mahindra & Mahindra led this export growth.

360. Sikkim Commerce Department Signs MoU With IIFT, Launches Export Facilitation Cell
