393. Tamil Nadu tourist numbers rise, but visitor experience falls short

- Chichghat-Rathi village in Wardha district has become Vidarbha’s first entirely solar-powered hamlet, achieving 100% solarisation without any additional government funding.
- Under the Pradhan Mantri Suryaghar Yojana, the village installed a total solar capacity of about 811 kW, covering 70 households, schools, anganwadis, streetlights, water supply systems, and local commercial units.
- The transition was driven by community participation, with most households adopting solar panels through bank loans (supported by Bank of Baroda), along with CSR support, making the project a model of sustainable and self-reliant rural development.
395. Amid claims of ‘decline’, Goa saw 6.2% increase in tourists this Jan-Sep over last
- On November 1, 2025 it was reported that from January to September 2025, Goa recorded 6.2% overall growth in tourist arrivals, with domestic tourism rising 5.4% and international arrivals jumping 29.3%, while tourism contributed about 16.4% to the state’s GDP and generated 40–45% of employment.

396. Domestic tourist arrivals up 10% in first 9 months of 2025
- On November 18, 2025, it was reported Rajasthan recorded 17.34 crore domestic tourist visits in the first nine months of 2025, a 10% rise year-on-year, while total tourist arrivals reached 23 crore in 2024; however, foreign tourist arrivals fell 7% to 12.67 lakh, reflecting a wider national decline.

397. Kondareddypalli is south India’s 1st solarised village
- Kondareddypalli has become the first fully solarised village in Telangana and South India and the second in the country after Modhera (Gujarat) to achieve complete solarisation.
- The state government sanctioned a ₹10.53 crore solar project through TGREDCO, providing solar power systems to 514 homes and 11 government buildings, with a total installed capacity of 1,500 kW.
- Each household generates about 360 units of electricity per month, meeting their needs and feeding surplus power into the grid; in September alone the village contributed nearly 1 lakh units, earning around ₹5 lakh.

399. Gujarat: How a small village in Amreli became fully solar-powered community
- Dudhala village in Amreli district has become fully solar-powered, with all more than 400 households running entirely on rooftop solar systems — eliminating electricity bills for the past three years.
- The transformation was made possible largely due to funding and support from industrialist Govindbhai Dholakia, whose contribution helped install individual solar setups tailored to each home.
- Villagers now enjoy cost-free, uninterrupted electricity, with many homes even accumulating surplus energy credits, and residents believe this model could benefit other rural communities if widely adopted.
400. Dhordo becomes fourth solar village in Gujarat, 177 KW rooftop solar panels installed in 81 homes
- Dhordo has become the fourth fully solar village in Gujarat, joining Modhera, Sukhi and Masali, with every household now solar-powered under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana.
- Solar panels (177 kW capacity) were installed on 81 homes, enabling the village to generate around 2.95 lakh units of electricity annually and cut electricity bills.
- The project benefits villagers financially saving about ₹16,064 per household each year and allowing them to earn by selling surplus power, with total annual gains expected over ₹13 lakh.
