1461. J&K achieves 96.4% digital coverage of courtrooms
- On August 2, 2025, Jammu and Kashmir achieved 96.4% digital coverage of its courtrooms under the e-Courts Mission Mode Project, with 248 of 257 courtrooms under the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh equipped with IT infrastructure, including video conferencing and electronic display systems
- The region invested ₹14.53 crore in 2024–25 for courtroom IT upgrades, up from ₹6.52 crore the previous year, as part of the ₹7,210 crore national e-Courts Phase III (2023–2027), aiming for full digitization, e-filing, cloud infrastructure, and eSewa Kendras.
- The initiative enhances transparency and accessibility in J&K’s justice system, with plans for Online Dispute Resolution and paperless courts, building on the integration of over 23,000 courts nationwide into the e-Courts platform.
1462. Naidu launches Rs 3,174-cr Annadatha scheme, deposits Rs 7,000 each to 47 lakh farmers
- On August 2, 2025, Andhra Pradesh launched the Annadatha Scheme, aimed at supporting farmers financially. Under the scheme, the state government will provide annual financial aid of ₹20,000 to each eligible farmer.
- In the first installment, ₹7,000 was directly deposited into the bank accounts of around 47 lakh farmers across the state. The remaining ₹13,000 will be released in two more phases during the year.

1463. PM Modi releases 20th PM-KISAN instalment; 52.16 lakh Gujarat farmer families get over ₹1,118 crore
- On August 2, 2025, Prime Minister released the 20th installment of the PM-KISAN scheme under which over ₹2,000 crore was transferred directly to the bank accounts of eligible farmers across India.
- As part of this instalment, more than ₹1,118 crore was disbursed to 52.16 lakh farmer families in Gujarat, benefiting them through direct income support amid the ongoing agricultural season.
- Gujarat farmers have received ₹25,700 crore in total under the PM-KISAN scheme since its launch, reinforcing the government’s commitment to strengthening farmers’ welfare through direct benefit transfers.
1464. India performs record 18,900 transplants in 2023; ranks 3rd globally in organ donation: Health Minister
- On August 2, 2025, India achieved a historic milestone by conducting over 18,900 organ transplants in 2023, the highest ever recorded in a single year for the country. This figure includes kidney, liver, heart, lung and pancreas transplants.
- India now stands as the third highest performing country in the world in terms of the total number of organ donations and transplants, according to global health data.
- The Union Health Ministry credited recent policy reforms, simplified procedures and public awareness campaigns under the National Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation for this progress.
1465. UPI records all-time high in July with 1,947 cr transactions worth ₹25.1 lakh cr
- On August 2, 2025, Unified Payments Interface recorded an all time high of 1,947 crore transactions in July 2025. This marks the highest number of monthly digital transactions since the system's launch, reflecting the growing preference for seamless digital payments across India.
- The total value of UPI transactions in July stood at ₹25.1 lakh crore, setting a new record. This massive volume highlights UPI’s dominance as a trusted and widely used payment system for individuals, merchants and institutions alike.
- The consistent growth in both volume and value of UPI transactions underscores India’s accelerating digital economy. Government support, widespread smartphone use and increasing merchant adoption have played a key role in UPI’s expansion across rural and urban areas.
1466. India launches projects under India-UN Global Capacity Building Initiative to aid Global South
- On August 2, 2025, India launched the first four projects under the “India-UN Global Capacity Building Initiative” to help Global South nations achieve Sustainable Development Goals. The projects inaugurated by MEA Secretary (West) and are part of India’s broader development partnership efforts.
- In the first phase, the programme will help Nepal with rice fortification and supply chain management, supported by the World Food Programme, and also work on developing digital health platforms.
- India, under the ITEC framework, will begin training programmes from September 2025 in partnership with UN agencies. These include digital health platforms in Zambia and Laos with UNDP, census training in five Caribbean nations with UNFPA and vocational training in South Sudan with UNESCO.
1467. India builds road in Bhutan for strategic access near China border
- On August 2, 2025, India’s Border Roads Organisation, under Project Dantak has completed an all weather highway in Bhutan’s Haa Valley, just 21 km from the strategic Doklam border. Built at a cost of ₹254 crore, the Confluence Haa road enhances connectivity.
- India’s strategic interests by improving mobility for Bhutanese and Indian defense forces. BRO Director General and Indian Army Chief reviewed the infrastructure, underscoring close coordination between India and Bhutan.
- The road aligns with India’s broader strategy of countering China's infrastructure buildup near Doklam. The project strengthens India’s ability to monitor and respond to security developments in the Chumbi Valley and preserve stability across the narrow Siliguri Corridor.

1468. KSERC Approves 125 MW/500 MWh Battery Storage Project At Mylatti In Kerala
- On August 2, 2025, Kerala’s power regulator approved a 125 MW/500 MWh battery energy storage project at Mylatti, backed by ₹135 crore Viability Gap Funding under the Ministry of Power’s state scheme.
- Awarded to JSW Neo Energy through SECI, the project allows four hours of daily discharge, 85% efficiency and ₹4.41 lakh/MW monthly tariff, ensuring grid reliability and renewable integration.
- The system will store surplus solar power for use during peak demand, helping reduce Kerala’s power import costs and improving energy security in Kasaragod.
1469. India’s textiles exports crossed $37.75 billion in 2024-25: Minister
- On 01 August 2025, the Parliament was informed that India’s textiles & apparel exports rose by 5% to $37.75 billion in FY 2024–25, up from $35.87 billion in FY 2023–24.
- The government is implementing several schemes to enhance investment, employment, and exports in the textile sector, as stated by Minister of State for Textiles Pabitra Margherita.
- Seven PM MITRA Parks have been approved across Gujarat, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, and Uttar Pradesh; infrastructure works worth ₹1,197.33 crore have begun, with ₹291.61 crore already spent. Under the Samarth scheme, 4,57,724 beneficiaries have been trained till 24 July 2025. Additional support includes financial aid for raw materials, upgraded looms, solar units, marketing, concessional loans, and social security for handloom workers.

1470. Centre builds 16,207 km NH, okays Rs 69,342 cr for NE railway projects
- On August 1, 2025, the Centre announced it has built 16,207 km of National Highways and approved ₹69,342 crore for 12 railway projects covering 777 km in the North East Region (NER). Of this, 278 km has already been commissioned.
- The projects are being implemented by the Ministry of Railways and Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), with works also under PM GatiShakti, Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, and BharatNet. Connectivity upgrades include 90 air routes under UDAN, 3297 mobile towers, and 6355 Gram Panchayats made broadband-ready.
- These investments aim to boost infrastructure, connectivity, and economic growth in the North East, improve road, rail, air, and digital connectivity, support youth and women livelihoods, promote tourism, and fill critical development gaps.
