1241. PM Flags Off Northeast’s first Vande Bharat Express between Guwahati and New Jalpaiguri
- Prime Minister virtually flagged off the northeast's first Vande Bharat Express from Guwahati to New Jalpaiguri. The Vande Bharat Express will boost tourism, education, trade and employment opportunities in the northeast.
- The semi-high-speed train between Guwahati and New Jalpaiguri will further strengthen connectivity between Assam and West Bengal.
- The Guwahati- New Jalpaiguri Vande Bharat Express will cover the journey in 5 hours 30 minutes, while the current fastest train takes 6 hours 30 minutes to cover the same distance.

1242. First ropeway in Meghalaya to enhance connectivity and tourism at Shillong
- Meghalaya Chief Minister officially launched the foundation of the Shillong Ropeway Project at Shillong Peak.
- The state’s first-ever passenger ropeway, which is set to cost Rs 175 crore, will offer a breathtaking panoramic view of Shillong City.
- The construction, initially scheduled to begin in November, will connect Lawsohtun to Shillong Peak. The foundation stone for the project was first laid by President Droupadi Murmu on January 16, 2024.

1243. Bengaluru Railway Station Renamed After Freedom Fighter Sangolli Rayanna
- Bangalore City railway station was officially renamed as Krantivira Sangolli Rayanna Railway Station to honor the 19th-century freedom fighter from Karnataka.
- Rayanna, born on August 15, 1798, led a rebellion against the British East India Company and was hanged on January 26, 1832 for his role in the resistance.
- A bust and plaque were unveiled at the station entrance, with plans to install a tall statue and publish booklets to inspire future generations.

- Union Minister of Electronics and Information Technology inaugurated the country’s first tempered glass manufacturing plant in UP’s Noida On 30 August, 2025.
- The plant is a significant step towards promoting electronics manufacturing in India and strengthening the Make-in-India initiative.
- The Minister said that electronics production in India has increased nearly six fold and now components for mobiles, laptops, and other devices are manufactured in the country itself.

1245. Sunam Singh railway station to be named after martyr Udham Singh
- On December 16, 2016, the Punjab government officially notified the renaming of Sunam railway station as Sunam Udham Singh Wala, after receiving approval from the Union home ministry on December 8.
- The move honors Shaheed Udham Singh, born in Sunam on December 26, 1899, who assassinated Michael O’Dwyer in London in 1940 to avenge the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. He was executed the same year.

1247. India becomes World’s 3rd-Largest Mobile Exporter at $20.5 Billion
